The early morning start and long drive had an impact on the girls, who found it difficult to get going in the first half.
As a result they struggled to hold their defensive line.
This allowed the faster Cootamundra team to break though large holes in the Leeton defence early on in the game to put pressure on the keeper.
In the 11th minute Cootamundra had their first real chance, taking on the United keeper and managing to slot it through her legs to take the score to 1-0.
United coach Mark Powter said the lack of structure and communication on the field let his side down this week.
“(This) caused the girls to bunch up on the field, leaving gaps for the Cootamundra team to work the ball through,” he said.
“In the 28th minute another goal was scored by Cootamundra, who just managed to touch the ball around the keeper to take the score to 2-0.
“This was very quickly followed up by another goal in the 30th minute finishing the half at 3-0.”
The half time break was essential for the United women's team.
They needed to regain their structure, work on communication and keep their heads held high.
“The girls were determined to take control of the second half and they did,” Powter said.
“We went out a lot stronger in the second half, getting the ball out to key players on the wings and shutting down the Cootamundra attack.

“Emilia Armida, Eliza Armida, Louise Mars, Courtney Smith and Megan Castle created a fantastic team in the midfield, allowing United to have several shots on goal.
“This was backed up by a fantastic defensive line.”
Despite this, Cootamundra managed to steal another goal finishing the game at 4-0.
“The girls played significantly better in the second half and should be proud of their comeback,” Powter said.
“We are looking forward to the last four games of the season and hope to finish strong.”
United’s next game is against South Wagga on Sunday.
