Last weekend the team took on Wagga United at Rawlings Park, but went down 6-1.
Following their loss, the side was sweating on the result of the South Wagga and Young match up.
A win to South Wagga would have spelt the end of Leeton’s season.
However, luckily enough for them, it was Young who scored the victory – meaning Leeton stayed in sixth.
They will need to defeat Lake Albert this week to cement their position, with finals getting underway the following weekend.

Their match against Wagga United last weekend had the team feeling confident beforehand, according to coach Mark Powter.
“While the girls were confident after beating Wagga United 4-3 in round seven, they were also concerned as they were missing a lot of their regular players this week due to other commitments,” he said.
“Despite this, the girls turned up and were ready to play to secure their position in the finals.
“The game started off incredibly quickly with Wagga United dominating the field, securing two goals in the first 10 minutes.”
Wagga's speed and power combined with Leeton’s disorganisation made it difficult for them to defend or attack in the first half.
As the half went on, Leeton began to find its feet and its structure, but it was far too late. At half-time the score was 5-0.
“The girls came together at the half to discuss their mistakes and put together a plan of attack,” Powter said.
“Leeton United went in to the second half a lot stronger, having several attempts at goal early on, but were unable to secure a point.
“An accidental handball late in the second half had Leeton United concede another goal taking the score to 6-0.”
With only minutes to go, Leeton United made their final push with a cross pass to Eliza Armida on the right side of the field, who slotted it past the keeper to end the game 6-1.
“Leeton United must win this weekend against Lake Albert if they are to make the finals,” Powter said.
“That is an achievement the girls never expected to make in their first year together.”
The women’s match kicks off a 9am on Sunday at the Mia Sports Field with supporters encouraged to head down early to cheer them across the line.
