With trials underway, the 2019 coaches are already impressed with what they are seeing.
At the helm this year is Beck McCallum and Nicole Matthews, who will head up A grade and A reserve, while Keira McCallum will be coaching B and C grades.
“Early signs are very positive, with large numbers attending the pre-season training and, considering how hot it has been, it looks like there will be all grades filled,” Beck McCallum said.
“With some people returning this year and some of our talented juniors continuing to prove themselves, the senior grades will be very competitive.”
RELATED
Both Matthews and McCallum have previously co-coached A grade in 2009 where the pair were successful in winning the first A grade Crows premiership.
McCallum said there were looking forward to working with the younger girls and developing their current skills, while at the same time combining that with the more experienced players.
The main aim for the Crows this year is to implement good training ethics and consistency.
“We also want to create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere, which should all go a long way towards reaching finals,” McCallum said.
“With pre-trial training being based around game sense activities, it is showcasing the girls natural talent and passion.
“Everyone is working very hard and proving their dedication by continuing to turn up in hot conditions and keeping in constant contact with the three of us.
“They are all also playing other sports, which definitely helps with fitness.”
McCallum said it would be a tough selection process this year as the club was lucky enough to have plenty of depth and talent.
She said from what she had seen, there would be strong sides selected from the under 17s right through to A grade.
“Our senior coaches have committed to working collaboratively so that our players are completing similar training, while also working on their own specific areas,” McCallum said.
“We are also looking to have one large squad for pre-season leaving ourselves with options before anyone is locked in to a particular grade.
“Overall, there is a great vibe and we are all very impressed with the standard this early, which is a promising sign for the season.”
