The Outback Band Spectacular, an annual event hosted by the Leeton Town Band which sees the town overtaken by bands from across Australia and usually culminates in a mass band concert at the Roxy Theatre, will not be held this year.
Secretary for the Leeton Town Band Ruth Tait said the decision came after much deliberation, with a change in the committee makeup and musical direction of the band some of the main reasons for the deferral.
Mrs Tait, who stepped down as musical director of the band in August, said new people have taken over roles in the band committee but the band needed proper time to adjust to the changes.
"We were just looking at making a few changes [in the band]," Mrs Tait said.
"When there is change often there is time to settle... all our bands have adapted really well [so far]."

While the 2019 event has been deferred, Mrs Tait said the event plans to return in 2020 bigger and better than ever.
"We've started planning already," Mrs Tait said.
"It's brought a lot of people together... we've developed friendships through the music as well.
"You've still got to plan, still got to do things... we have plans for workshops [for next year]."
The town will not go without a concert from the band however, with the Town Band hosting a 'Spring Into Summer' concert at the Roxy Theatre on Saturday November 9th from 6.30pm.
Mrs Tait said the event will be a much more localised event than the yearly spectacular, with predominantly local musical groups from Leeton performing at the event, including the Leeton High School choir and dancers from Maureen Gavel's ballet studio.
However, the Hornsby concert band the Golden Kangaroos, a regular fixture at the Outback Band Spectacular, will also be making the trip to perform at the concert.
