Councillor Maytom said the next year was shaping up to be one of the biggest during his time as mayor thanks to the many big works that are penciled in.
While these are all worthwhile and good news, Cr Maytom said there was no doubting challenges were ahead.
"We've still facing the drought and the associated issues, but when it comes to water, that is still our biggest concern," he said.
"The water market remains flawed. As a council we need to make sure we are involved in every conversation and opportunity to have an input on policy and changes that need to be made.
"Our future, particularly the future of diversified agriculture, is at stake.

"That is why we need to make sure we are continually putting our position forward at every opportunity. We have many families who are about to be affected by job losses at SunRice, so it's going to be tough. The way the water market is set up just does not work and people are suffering."
There are several big projects that will break ground in 2020, including the redevelopment of the iconic Roxy Theatre, the upgrade of the Leeton pool, the commencement of the CBD enhancement in Wade Avenue and the construction of the new grandstand at the Leeton Showground.
There's also the multimillion-dollar Wamoon sewerage project, which, while delayed, will make progress in the next 12 months.
"In my time on council, this is probably the biggest year ahead in terms of big works that are taking place," Cr Maytom said.
"These are all really great things for our shire and will help us move forward into the future."
Many of these initiatives have received funding from the state government, but council is also contributing.
The construction of a long-awaited bridge on Main Road 539 will also be welcomed by motorists and truck drivers.
It will also be a big year for councillors themselves as 2020 marks the next round of local government elections.
These elections will take place on September 12.
"I'll certainly be out there in the community advocating for people to consider putting their hand up for these elections," Cr Maytom said.
"It can be hard work at times, but it is certainly very rewarding at the same time."
