Riverina were downed 34-8 by Illawarra South Coast at Equex Centre on Saturday.
With a large player turnover, coach Dean Whymark thought the team struggled to adjust against the more experienced side.
"We performed really well for the first 10 to 15 minutes, I thought we were on top of the game, but they wore us down and we had to play catch up football after that," Whymark said. "I think they executed their game plan a little bit better than us, they worked out what our strengths were and our weaknesses and they exploited that.
"We just need to be smarter next week."
