Officers from the Murrumbidgee Criminal Investigation team were travelling south on Brobenah Road around 7.15pm when they noticed two vehicles travelling north in the opposite direction.

A green Ford was seen overtaking the vehicle in front, allegedly without indicating.

Police followed the vehicle and stopped the driver just before the Koonadan and Colinroobie Road intersection.

Officers asked the man if he had been drinking that day, to which he allegedly replied "no" and said he thought he had indicated when overtaking the vehicle.

A roadside breath test returned a positive reading, with the man admitting "I did have a drink a few hours ago".

He was arrested and taken to Leeton police station for further breath analysis, which returned a reading of 0.09.

As a result of the mid-range reading, the man's licence was suspended and he will be required to attend court at a later date.

He later told police he had drank three, 375ml glasses of port between 2pm and 5.30pm that day.

A MAN banned from driving for a 24-hour period has been found doing just that by police in Leeton on the weekend.

The 25-year-old, who was driving a blue Holden Statesman, was stopped by members of the Murrumbidgee Criminal Investigation team about 8.35pm on Friday in Pendula Street for a roadside breath test.

This returned a negative result, but then underwent an oral drug test, which returned a positive reading for methamphetamine.

He was arrested and taken to Leeton police station where he underwent a second test, which returned another positive result for the drug.

As a result, he was advised he was not to drive a motor vehicle for the next 24 hours, enforceable until 8.35pm on Saturday.

However, he was spotted by police about 5.30pm on Saturday driving on Railway Avenue in the same vehicle as the evening before.

He was pulled over and as a result he was charged with being a suspended driver.

Police will now wait for official lab results from the second drug test to determine whether anymore charges will be laid.

FIVE young males have been warned by police after allegedly flouting COVID-19 restrictions.

The group was travelling together in a silver Holden Rodeo on Saturday in Kurrajong Avenue around 10.50pm.

Police stopped the vehicle for a roadside breath test, near the intersection of Church Street.

The driver returned a negative result. Police asked the group what they were doing, with each of them from different households.

They told police they were heading to a friend's place to "hang out".

Police told them their purpose for being out, under the current restrictions, was not valid and each of them were cautioned, complying with a move on direction.
