The project was granted $3 million in funding from the state government to allow for the work to go ahead.
Despite an initial delay to the start of the project, work began late last year, ramping up when the summer season was over in 2020.
The pool will now be widened to go from eight swimming lanes to 10, which will increase capacity for individuals and user groups, as well as having a new water slide and water play items installed.
Leeton Shire Council's director of engineering and environment Peter Keane said construction work at the site was able to continue through the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Works have involved full demolition of the kids wading pool, LTS pool, water slide and 70 per cent of the 50-metre pool," he said.
"(There has) also been the installation of concrete piers for the new filtration plant building, as well as refurbishment of the existing filtration plant room.

"Excavation in preparation for the two additional 50-metre lanes in the main pool will continue, as well concreters preparing to install the prefabricated walls for the new filtration plant building."
The project is scheduled for completed by December, prior to the Christmas break.
This means the pool won't open at its usual time of year, but once it does, swimmers will be treated to a whole new experience.
Mr Keane reported the work is currently on track and sticking to its budget.
Council has engaged the Facility Design Group as the architect for the project and also engaged Omnistruct as the building firm to deliver the works.
Mr Keane said once finished, the complex will be highly sought-after.
"It will provide an aquatic facility that rivals any in rural Australia, a place where young children, teenagers and the elderly can learn to swim and or train in a 'state of the art' complex," he said.
