A new electrical trades training facility at the Leeton campus was officially opened on Monday with the aim of expanding the capacity to meet this demand at a local level.
The $600,000 project was delivered by the state government, with NSW Parliamentary Secretary and Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke on hand to do the honours on Monday afternoon.
"We need to continue investing in TAFE ... that's the long and the short of it," Ms Cooke said.
"I can say that personally because I am a TAFE graduate and a very proud one. I have a diploma in floristry, so I will always consider myself a 'tradie'.

"It's important to have these facilities where people can live and learn locally, while developing their skills."
With demand for electricians and engineers particularly high in the Leeton shire area, the electrotechnology trades workshop at the campus will deliver practical training for students and apprentices in courses such as the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.
NPM Indigenous partnered with TAFE NSW to deliver the project.
Electrical teacher Rod Chant said the new facilities would be a boost for his students, and his own teaching.
"My students will be able to benefit from this; they will be able to be doing hands-on skills and theory skills concurrently," he said.
"All my students come from different areas and most of them are in manufacturing and processing."
