Leeton finished the season as Pascoe Cup minor premiers and will take on the only team to defeat them this season, Henwood Park, in the major semi-final at Rawlings Park on Sunday.
The Hawks themselves were not defeated all season but dropped to second place after losing the points from their Lake Albert win after playing an unregistered player.
Alampi is well aware of how long the title drought has been for the club and says there is a buzz around Leeton as they prepare for Sunday's grand final qualifier.
"The last time we played in a GF in Wagga it was 2004. It's been a long time since," Alampi said.
"We've played off to get in a few grand finals in the recent past but from an elimination semi going up, not from a major semi. The boys are excited and are buzzing.

"They're looking good, looking sharp at training and pushing themselves on really well. We're really excited at the opportunity to get into a GF, the first one for a long time for us.
"Our ressies boys have been in a few in the last few years and been unsuccessful unfortunately but they're in the same position so it's good for the club, we're looking forward to it, we've just got to make sure we capitalise. We want to capitalise on the opportunity."
Capitalise is the key word for Leeton after Henwood Park did exactly that in their only meeting this season, a 5-2 win back in July.
Alampi said a number of key lessons were learnt that day.
"Keeping our structure is the key," he said.
"They got us on the counter attack last time, four times and one from a free kick so basically five times.
"They hit us on the counter a few times and they punished us actually, they took their opportunities really well. They had six or seven shots on goal for five so they really punished us.
"We've chatted about it and it hasn't happened since. Hopefully the guys remember that and are wary of their quality on the break. We've just got to make sure we're switched on so it doesn't happen again."
Leeton were dealt a blow at training on Tuesday night when Anthony Trifogli injured his groin. He is unlikely to be fit in time to face Henwood Park on Sunday.
"It was right at the end of training as well. He's had a massive year for us, been performing really well," Alampi said.
"It's not great, but it's early days. He might be ok but it doesn't look like he'll be right for this weekend."
While disappointed to potentially lose Trifogli, Alampi has faith in his squad to step up for finals.
"Since the Henwood Park game we haven't lost. That's not to say we haven't been challenged, we've been challenged every week but when we have been challenged the boys have stepped up to that," he said.
"The boys will get challenged this week, it's going to be the toughest game the boys have played all year, the boys have just got to be ready to go.
"Finals is always a step up, as we all know, as long as the boys are ready for that, I'm confident if we play the way we want to play with the plans we've got in place, I'm confident we'll put in a good performance."
