LEETON'S multimillion grandstand project at the town's showground has been slated for an official opening next month. The grandstand's construction at the Leeton Showground has been underway for the better part of 2020 and will feature top notch facilities for a variety of user groups. The Leeton-Whitton Football and Netball Club is one of the main stakeholders who will benefit from the upgraded canteen, change rooms, viewing area, function room and disabled access, but others will also be able to use the brand new facility. RELATED: The $1.996 million project has been co-funded by the federal government, AFL Riverina, the NSW government, NSW Crown Lands and Leeton Shire Council. An official opening of the facility will take place on site on December 19 at 10.30am. The building replaces the former grandstand which was close to falling down prior to being torn down to make way for the brand new facility. It will offer areas for spectators of football during those cold winter days, as well as being extremely useful to the Leeton Show Society.
