THE Leeton Lions Club has welcomed Marie Jackson as its new president for the 2021-22 year.

The organisation held its annual changeover dinner recently, with Mrs Jackson taking over from Frank Pirrottina.
Supporting Mrs Jackson will be Brian Collins as secretary, Sheree Collins as treasurer, first vice-president Rob Wright, second vice-president Greg Deeves, directors Jackie Strempel and Don Graham and Mr Pirrottina as immediate past president.
In handing over the club to Mrs Jackson, Mr Pirrottina wished her, the board and members all the best for the new Lions year.
"Although my year was interrupted by COVID -19 restrictions, our club still remained active and came through the period extremely well," Mr Pirrottina said.

"Our club's finances took a little battering from cancellations of events such as the SunRice Festival, Light Up Leeton carnival, Leeton Show and private hire of our train and merry-go-round.
"We were able to still hold our Christmas light tours, numerous raffles conducted through Facebook and donations made to our club by the staff at the Hotel Leeton and Broso family."
In accepting the position of president, Mrs Jackson said said she was looking forward to the year ahead.
"During my year I plan for the club to carry on with what they are doing and look at supporting the community in the best way and when we can," she said.
"We will always be looking at strengthening our team by recruiting new members."
