It's been a frustrating road for the Leeton Shire Sporting Walk of Fame committee, which has been working hard to get the inaugural event up and happening.
A gala evening was first set down for last year to induct the first five members of the walk of fame, but it was cancelled amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The same fate has met this year's planned evening, which was due to be held in October.
It too has now been cancelled amid lockdowns and restrictions.
RELATED:
Committee chairman Tony Reneker said the decision was made only recently to postpone the event once again.
"It was due to be held on October 16," he said.
"We've got five inductees for this first one, but some of those people are interstate.
"We had to commit to things beforehand like the venue and catering, but there's too much uncertainty so we've decided to postpone.
"It's too hard to know where things will be at in October."
MC for the event Gareth McCray had also been lined up for the evening, but he too lives elsewhere.
The gala night for the announcement of the first inductees has now been set down for March next year.
"Hopefully things will be better next year ... at this stage we'll just have the one event next year," Mr Reneker said.
"At this stage we can't release the names of the inductees until they can confirm they are coming in March.
"We've got cricket, athletics, swimming all represented.
"There's a good range. We'll do five per year, so it should go on for some time."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The idea behind the walk of fame is to honour past and present Leeton shire residents who have represented their sporting field at high levels.
They will be recognised at these gala nights, as well as have their names on a plaque which will be installed along a special path that has been created outside the Leeton No. 1 Oval.
