A third generation local on both his maternal and paternal side, Mr Holt says now is the time for him to stand and help better the community and all who reside in the Leeton Shire.

"Local government at the council level is a service industry," Mr Holt said.

"In my opinion it is not there to make a profit, it is there to use the ratepayers money to deal with more than roads, rates and rubbish and improve the community in its entirety.

"As a representative of your constituents, you should do the very best you can for them."

With experience in the building and construction industry, a previous role with Leeton Shire Council as a building inspector and now a private certifier, housing is on Mr Holts mind come election time.

"I want to see more residential development in town because if we can bring more people into Leeton and provide an opportunity for our younger people to build and live here, we bring business to local trades and attract bigger businesses to come to town based on population size," Mr Holt said.

"A big objective for me if elected to council would be to increase the availability of residential lots so people can build new homes.

"This then flows into job creation for locals, increased business and a big boost to the local economy."

Mr Holt also noted that he would like to see more consideration from the satellite towns of Murrami, Whitton, Wamoon and Yanco across the Leeton Shire.

According to Mr Holt, he was also concerned to see the decline in services available at Leeton District Hospital.

"We live in a first world country and have the best available medical opportunities but we have a significant lack of doctors in rural communities," Mr Holt said.

"I want women to be able to start their family at Leeton District Hospital.

"I want our elderly to be able to receive the care they need in their own community.

"I want the residents of Leeton to have access to an Emergency Department instead of having to travel to Griffith or Wagga."

An overarching theme with Mr Holts run for council seems to be his strong desire to boost the community up and onwards into the future.

"I am here for change and progress," Mr Holt said.

"I want people to feel through my representation that they are being heard."

"I believe now is the time to stand up, say something and represent the people."
