The Yanco Lions Club will be holding the inaugural Christmas Tree Festival this Saturday at the town's community hall and everyone is invited to participate.
As part of the festival, residents from across the shire have been invited to make and decorate a Christmas tree to then be put on display at the hall on Saturday for all to view. The trees can be real, fake, big, small, made from wood, metal or any other kind of creation people can come up with.
There will be prizes on the day and there are no restrictions or themes for the trees to follow.
However, they can reflect a Christmas tree, an organisation or similar.
Yanco Lions Club vice president Graham Williams said the club had wanted to create an event that would suit all ages, as well as bringing some much-needed festive cheer to the Yanco community.
"We wanted to try something a bit different to see how it goes, we're excited for it," he said.
"We'd love to see as many entries as possible.
"All of the trees taking part will then be available for viewing throughout the day (Saturday) from 9am to 5pm."
IN OTHER NEWS:
As part of the event, the club's annual Christmas hams raffle will also take place at the hall at 4pm on Saturday.
Entry fee per tree is $5, while those viewing the tree will need to provide a gold coin donation.
All money raised will go towards the purchase of Christmas decorations for Yanco.
Trees can be set up in the hall on Saturday from 8am.
