The NSW Electoral Commission is due to finalise the votes from the December 4 local government election by early next week.
However, there has been a slight hiccup when it comes to iVotes, which may mean these need to recounted.
Should all of the numbers be determined in the coming days, Leeton Shire Council will then hold a meeting on Wednesday evening where oath of office and affirmation will occur with elected councillors and the election of mayor and deputy mayor will take place.
Should there be any unexpected delay from the NSW Electoral Commission with the final declaration of results, this meeting will be postponed until Thursday.
IN OTHER NEWS:
So far there still remains just three candidates who have reached their quota of 596 votes - Paul Smith, Tony Reneker and George Weston.
It does look likely the remaining councillors who all sought re-election this time around - Sandra Nardi, Tracey Morris, Michael Kidd and Tony Ciccia will all secure their spot once again.
Two newcomers in Krystal Maytom and Matt Holt appear to be the front runners among the remaining candidates to fill the final two seats.
Councillor Weston said the process had been slower than usual, but he was pleased the community had again put their faith in him.
Cr Weston has been on council since 1995.
"I still have the same motivation and drive to be representing our community and working on everyone's behalf," he said.
"People always ask 'why council'? I tell them it's really no different to volunteering on other committees, groups or sporting clubs. You do it because you want to help and you want to make a difference.
"That is why I keep putting my hand up."
