Leeton finished fourth on the reserve grade ladder, with their road to the grand final a winning one.
In round one the Greens scored a two-point victory over the Yenda Blueheelers, which was followed up by a 24-8 win over the Waratah Tigers.
Their tilt at the grand final was secured after last weekend’s preliminary final win against the Griffith Black and Whites, 30-24.
Coach Shane Wallace said his side was better for having played consistent matches and they had so far come through the finals without picking up an injuries.
“I’m pretty sure the last time we won it was in 2006,” he said.
“So that’s 11 years. Everyone is prepared and ready to go against the Hawks.
“They are going in as the favourites and we’re all right with that.
“It’s going to be a really interesting game. They’ve beaten us every time we’ve met this year, but I think from memory it was by two points each time.
“It could go either way.”
The Greens have kept their preparation the same this week leading into the final.
“There’s no point changing anything up now,” Wallace said.
“Hopefully thanks to the last few weeks we’ve got our match fitness up.
“We’ve had to play in some warmer conditions as well, so if that’s what the weather is doing on Sunday, we’ll be able to cope with that.”
The Greens have really come together at the right time of the season.
They’ve had solid numbers at training during the year, but Wallace said he had noticed a difference in recent weeks.
“We’ve really started to gel and bond as a group,” he said.
“There’s such a good vibe around the team.”
Sunday’s premiership match also doubles as a local derby, which means bragging rights become even more vital than usual.
Wallace said the game was for the taking out wide.
“I think the game is going to be won out wide on the fringes of the ruck,” he said.
“Both teams have nippy, speedy forwards. It will be whoever takes their chances.”
