Both Light Up Leeton and the Lions Club work hard each year to bring Christmas to the whole town.
This year, Light Up Leeton will feature a new addition to it’s family, with the plans to light up the pine tree in the centre of town, across from the memorial.
Light Up Leeton Chairman Carl King said the committee were currently in the process of buying the lights.
“It’s a big tree and was lit many years ago. We’re looking to put coloured lights on it, rather than just Christmas lights ... This way the tree can be lit up for the different events throughout the year,” he said.
The event is promoted for the full month of December with the highlight being a Christmas concert in Mountford Park.
“We have a variety of acts involved. Everyone can get involved in the concert,” Mr King said.
“A lot of local people get involved and go all out to make their houses great.”
After the concert, a number of buses are made available for people to go and look at the Christmas lights around town.

The event offers the opportunity to come together as a community, to spend time with friends and the chance to make new ones.
The event is the result of the hard work of the committee’s volunteers who dress up and man stalls on the night.
“We’re still looking for volunteers to dress up on the night.”
To coincide, the Lions Club of Leeton is preparing for their ever-popular train tours of the local Christmas lights.
Lions Club Coordinator Brian Collins said the tours give locals the opportunity to see all the town has to offer.
“These tours are planned to enable residents to view the lights in safety,” he said.
The tours will run across nine nights. Each trip is limited to 30 people.
Tickets can only be purchased from Vanessa Jennings at Western Riverina Community College, 3 Wade Ave, Leeton or (02) 69 533 777.
Tickets are $5 per person and need to be paid for before the night of the tour.
Mr Collins encouraged people to get in and book their tickets right away.
“If you are interested in jumping aboard I suggest you get in and purchase your seats.”
The ride kicks off at the Leeton Market Plaza. It is estimated to take around two hours, dependent on the number of houses.
