Ms Thornburrow’s bright and bubbly personality would be known to many who have visited the hospital or been treated at the facility. 

She is a registered nurse and midwife and has worked in a range of fields. Ms Thornburrow has been a registered nurse for 15 years. 

“I have worked across a diverse spectrum of fields, including intensive care, emergency, emergency education and obstetrics.

Throughout the years as well as juggling work she has also undertaken several qualifications. 

Ms Thornburrow initially studied and gained her qualification to be a registered nurse with the Australian Catholic University.

However, she then went on to become an accredited ALS trainer with Australian College of Critical Care Nurses and a registered midwife through Charles Stuart University.

If that wasn’t enough, Ms Thornburrow also undertook an honours project with James Cook University.

“I started my career at Mater Hospital Brisbane and have since worked at Cairns Base Hospital and Mt Isa Base Hospital before coming to Leeton six years ago,” Ms Thornburrow said. 

She said there were many reasons why she had a passion for nursing.

“Seeing people at their very worst and very best and being able to make a difference in their health journey,” she said. 

“The opportunities nursing has offered me throughout the course of my career have been amazing and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

For many nurses, it’s not just a job they front up to every day, but a way of life.

“I am so grateful that through this career, I have had the opportunity to have met some of the most incredible people who I am honoured to call both colleagues and friends,” Ms Thornburrow said. 

”I love seeing new nurses come up through the ranks and encouraging them to become the best practitioners they can be.”
