Horizontal rumble strips have been installed at the Murrami Road and Main Road 80 intersection following several recent accidents.
However, the intersection has been a bone of contention for some time and was even the scene of a double fatal accident within the last decade.
Time will tell if the strips will make an impact on driver behaviour as they approach the intersection, particularly from the Murrami Road end.
Murrami Road is a long stretch of road that features several other intersections along the way, but motorists do not have to give way at any of those.

It is only when they approach the major crossroads at Main Road 80 do they need to give way to traffic, but after driving for some time, motorists do become lax, with some driving straight through without checking and that is when some of these accidents are occurring.
Now, when drivers approach the intersection they will cross the rumble strips, which causes a slight vibration to the vehicle, alerting them to the need to pay attention.
