Held in Sydney at the ABC headquarters, the event was a long and tiresome one, with Montana becoming the youngest ever finalist at the spelling bee.
"Despite this, Montana did herself, her family and her school proud by progressing all the way to the fourth round of the competition before being eliminated," Parkview principal Travis Irvin said.

"(She) finished inside the top half of competitors in the competition.
"Montana received great feedback from spelling bee officer Desiree Lane from the Department of Education Arts Unit, who was very impressed with her efforts at such a young age."
More than 170,000 students took part in the competition across the state, with Montana finishing in the top 25.
