AS LIKE most events in 2020, the usual City2Surf in Sydney is not going ahead in, but in its place is a virtual concept and its something that is already appealing to many Leeton residents.

The 50th running of the world's largest fun run on October 18 will be a virtual event, hitting the streets instead across the country.
Most years there are several Leeton shire residents who travel to Sydney to take part in the event, but this year it will be different.
"Usually it's held in August, then it was pushed back to October 18 before eventually being made a virtual event," Leeton's Clare Vant said.
"What we thought we would do is make it more of an event here in Leeton.

"So, people will run the 14 kilometres on October 18 on a course that we've come up with.
"It will start at the skate park, then it will go around Leeton - we're going around the Fivebough Wetlands and it will eventually finish back at the skate park."
Residents wanting to take part can register online to ensure they still get their City2Surf medal for completing the course and the organisers of the event here will also incorporate their own version of "heartbreak hill" into the course mix.
However, you can also turn up on the day without having to register at that site.
People can run or walk the course, according to Vant.
"There's been a bit of interest so far ... it is open to everyone," she said.
"We've also introduced a team event where you can walk or run seven kilometres each."
Participants can also still undertake fundraising for their favourite charity organisation.
"We've decided to raise funds again for the Black Dog Institute or people also have the option to do what they like with their fundraising ... some will raise money for a cause close to them," she said.
Vant also thanked all of the local businesses that have come on to support the event. A coffee van will also be there on the day, as well as music stations along the way.
Prize money will also be offered for the team and individual winners.
The event will be held on October 18 at 8am.
