As with most things in 2020, the pandemic threw a spanner in the works for this program and volunteers were unable to help deliver meals throughout the community as part of the rules and regulations in place to stop the spread of COVID-19.
It was a hard time for many of the volunteers, who all looked forward to their regular shifts.
However, towards the end of 2020 and now in 2021, the volunteers are back on deck and ready to help.
Some have had to step away, meaning there is room for anyone who might be interested to fill a spot or two.
Rosters are handed out many months in advance and usually volunteers only do a weekly shift once every month to six weeks.
Pinnacle Community Services Meals on Wheels co-ordinator Tanya Lewis said the need for the program continued to grow all the team, meaning the work of volunteers was more important than ever.
"It's great having our volunteers back on board," she said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Some had to step away due to ill health, which I had anticipated.
"The volunteers who did come back are all excited to be back. It's a social connection for them as well as the people they are delivering to."
It's all been happening for the Meals on Wheels program lately.
Late last year it was a recipient of the IGA Community Chest program, providing a vital boost.
Leeton's own IGA - the Golden Apple Super Store - also provided vouchers to the service, which were used to purchase special fruit packs for those who have meals delivered.
Jenny Clark is a new volunteer with Meals on Wheels and said she loved being able to give back to the community in this manner.
"I started I think in December," she said.
"It's great. I love chatting with the folk we deliver to.
It's a social connection for them as well as the people they are delivering to.

"It might only be for two minutes, but you can just tell it makes a difference among the clients.
"They open the door and there's someone there with a smile.
"I will definitely keep doing it, it's great. I drive school buses every day, so this helps to fill in time in between when I am rostered on."
