Originally planned to be held at Gossamer Park on July 8, the most recent COVID-19 outbreak and its associated restrictions has meant the event has been postponed for now.
NAIDOC Week is yet another casualty of the pandemic, but it is hoped the Leeton celebrations will be able to go ahead at a later date when restrictions have been eased.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The event traditionally attracts a large crowd at Gossamer Park each year, with many activities and fun always to be had on the day.
The theme for NAIDOC Week in 2021 is "Heal Country!", which calls for all to continue to seek greater protections for lands, waters, sacred sites and cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.
The Leeton and District Local Aboriginal Land Council has said it will keep the community in the loop for when the event can proceed.
