The Leeton Little Athletics Club recently received a $5000 grant from a large supermarket chain to purchase new timing gates.
Club secretary Renee Paton said the grant had made a big difference.
"The grant will have a huge impact," she said.
"The timing gates will allow us to run much more efficiently on meet nights by not having most of our volunteers on the track.
"They will give our athletes a more accurate run time, so they can monitor and improve on their PBs and placings.
"The new timing gates also put us in contention to host qualifying meets like zone and regional finals."
The young athletes have already been practicing using the timing gates, but the official season doesn't get under way until October 16.
