The Group 20 competition returns this weekend following a hiatus last year during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Hawks have been doing the heavy lifting throughout the pre-season both on and off the field.
With Rodney Coelli at the helm of the club as the new president, several new recruits have been welcomed into the fold.
Pre-season has been focused on getting the fitness levels correct after the year off, as well as working on different combinations and skills to ensure the team gels well from the get-go in 2021.
The Hawks will host Waratah Tigers on Saturday at Yanco Sportsground, which co-coach Kane Hammond labelled as the perfect way to start the season.
"Playing at home and on a Saturday, everyone is really keen for it," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"The boys are really excited to get back on the field and play again.
"Everyone has missed their footy. It's always good to play the first game at home and on a Saturday is even better."
Sonny Patolo Tupu, Ben Watts, Paul Ta'avao, Junior Faoa and Tim Toia are among those listed by the club as having signed on the dotted line.
"It's pretty much a whole new side," Hammond said.
"There's probably only four or five of us in first grade who were around in 2019.
"We've been working hard on getting our combinations right.
"That's something we'll be focusing on in the game on Saturday and just seeing how we all fit in together."
The Waratah Tigers will provide a huge challenge for the Hawks first up.
The first grade is a regular in the finals series each year, but the Hawks will be hoping to come out with all guns blazing.
"Waratahs are always tough and they'll be a big challenge for us," Hammond said.
"Hopefully with the side we have, we can come away with a win." It's a big season for the Hawks, with the club set to mark its 50th anniversary as a joint entity in July.
